Quilt Along Top

Hi all! I managed to get my quilt top together! I love all the colors and beautiful prints. It is SO big!

My HUGE top :)

My helpers were holding it down while the wind was blowing :) I am still working out the batting and backing, really just crossing my fingers! Part of the quilt-along this week is a long-arm quilting giveaway :)

I’m super behind in my reader – I can’t seem to keep up with it since school’s been out! Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow instead of sewing . . . maybe :)

  1. Gorgeous quilt (and cute kids too!!)
I suspect you used more than the suggested amount of fabric.
That quilt is going to be HUGE!!!
    Good luck with it.
    ANdi :-)

  2. Amy – it's really spectacular. I hope you had fun putting it together. I can't wait to see it in the next phases!

  3. Yay! It looks fantastic! I love them big, I don't often do small quilts. I think big quilts are so useful. I love your colors.

  4. The colours are beautiful. I would keep on sewing. There is always time for reading later. (I can't believe I just said that. I have been a reader all my life).

  5. It looks like many flavors of ice cream all swirled together. Good enough to eat but I'd rather curl up on a couch or snuggle down in the bed with such a quilt. You did a great job.

  6. Wow is that beautiful, and BIG! I love the colors. It's going to be a real treat the first time you snuggle under it!

  7. Wow, that is a big quilt. Very beautiful and will look so great on a bed. I make so many baby and throw quilts it is always nice (although a pain at times) to make one that actually fits a bed. Anyway – just wanted to suggest looking for a king flat sheet for your back. That way there is no piecing involved and anyways backing of that size can get expensive quick because they require so much fabric. I've often been able to find a really nice top sheet at places like TJMaxx or outlet linen stores at great prices. Can't wait to see it finished! Way to go!

  8. Amy its great, mine sis so lcose to being able to fit my bed that Im going to put some sashing on it to get the prefect fit. My square ended up 12.25. I took photos it on my list to post later. How goes the color picking for the back get to joanne with that good coupon yet. We go today, wish me luck. The quilt is beautiful keep up the good work.

  9. IT looks so great. I love your fabrics. Did you use more than the 1/2 yard each to reach that size? Thanks for sharing

  10. That is a big quilt. I just love that you have such good helpers. It would be nice if you would win the long-arm quilting giveaway. The more I look at the quilt the more I like it.

  11. Great job! How are you going to quilt it now? Do you have a longarm machine that you use?? I just bought a midarm machine, but am re-doing my room before I put it up because I know I will never work on the room after it is up and running! I have many quilt tops waiting for it to be ready!! :) Can't wait! I'm interested in what you're doing on yours!

  12. Looks so pretty! I have 4 of my 10 rows sewn together! I am getting there:) Currently it is taking up the whole dinning room floor:) I went on a backing hunt today, I was hoping to find a pretty sheet at TJ MAX, no luck.

  13. It is super!! Love the colour combinations in it – bright and cheery yet warm too. How on earth are you going to fit that in your machine?

  14. Oh Amy! It's lovely! I knew it was going to be really pretty, but WOW — it's BEAUTIFUL! Great Job!

  15. This will be an awesome quilt. My pinwheel star that I entered in the Quilt Festival was 93" X 112" and it is just right on our king size bed using the matching shams.

  16. Hooray! Congratulations on finishing the top!!! It's really fun!

Ahhhhh…the joys and curse of the blog reader!

  17. Wow! This is amazing! And it makes me really thankful that I have a queen sized bed :)

Love that your girls helped me to see the scale of it!

  21. wow Amy! It's cool to see the size of it having your girls in the picture. You can do it. One step at a time. And maybe even have some fun doing it!

  22. Wow. Amy, it's beautiful. As for being behind in your Reader…I second that. I can't get caught up. It's a good problem to have. Always something to see when you have a minute. LOL!
