Simple Sampler Quilt-Along – Finishing

Posted on August 22nd, by Amy in quilt-along. 9 comments

Hi Friends~

I have not quilted my sampler yet.  I’m still working out a plan, but wanted to share some resources for finishing just in case you need them to finish your quilt!

Prepping a Quilt Back

Basting a Quilt

Straight Line Quilting

Prepping a Binding

Sewing Binding to a Quilt

Hand-stitching a Binding

I can’t wait to see them all finished up!  Please let me know when you get there, and if you need any other help!

Amy

Well I was doing well, i had caught up and finished my blocks. I purchased sashing, and bragged about your sight at the same time! the quilt store owner was ging to check it out. I sat down to see how my blocks sixed up to discover that I had three large ones! Of course I choose the time consuming method of taking apart the three blocks! I was tired when I sewed them together the first time, I didnt trim them to the right size!!! So after a little ironing and trimming I had tree new correctly sized blocks! Now I have my sashing cut! Time to get down to business this week.

I fell behind last week because I wanted to make my quilt a bit bigger than the 16 blocks. I think it will be awhile before I’m able to get the finishing done, but I will definitely use your wonderful tutorials when I get there! Thank you!

But, I am still inspired by Amy and all of the other peeps who actually start something and even finish it! lol Thank you Amy for being one of those people…

Help! I’ve got my walking foot on and have quilted 3 rows. My needle either keeps falling out part way through the row and I have to put it in again, or it breaks. I’m on my third needle in 3 rows. Am I doing something wrong? Suggestions?
