Quilt Fiesta! surprising designs from Mexican tiles :: Review

I’m participating in yet another fantastic blog tour!  ¡Quilt Fiesta! by Cheryl Lynch -

Cheryl has taken the inspiration that she found while on vacation in Mexico, and made beautiful quilts!  The results are appealing and fun!  Cheryl shares photographs from her travels, and a bit of history about Puebla where the most desirable tiles are made.  Cheryl then continues to share her tried and true methods for appliqué and paper piecing, and reminds us all that perfection is over-rated!

That sounds familiar!  : )

I’m so glad that we are of the same mindset Cheryl!

There are 10 fabulous quilt projects based on the tiles shown on the cover.  My favorite part in the projects is that the appliqué is broken down into manageable pieces, often finished on the individual block before assembling the quilt top.

And the secondary design made with each block is really fun!

With each of the projects Cheryl also offers alternate color or layout options – inspiring you to be creative with the designs.

Are you inspired yet?

I have a signed copy to giveaway to one of my readers!

Make sure that you are a follower and leave me a comment.

One entry per person, and I will select a winner on Friday, March 4th.

Stop over and say hi at Cheryl’s blog too!  I know she’ll appreciate your comments.

Good luck,

ETA:  Winner is # 62, Patty who doesn’t have a blog to link to.  Thanks for participating!

  1. I lived in Mexico City for a year and can echo Cheryl’s enthusiasm for the tiles. They are beautiful. Paper piecing would be a great way to recreate the patterns. I’d love to see more of the book. Thanks for the giveaway.

  2. I follow you on google reader. We visited Mexico when our friends were working there its fantastic and I’d love to make a Mexican inspired quilt. Thanks for the opportunity.

  6. Gorgeous! I always study the tiles on the tables at Chili’s restaurants because I love the rich colors and symmetric designs. How clever to translate those graphic elements into patterns for fabric and thread!

  10. Oooohhhhh…I love the ideas in the book and would be so grateful to win it. Thanks for the giveaway. And yes, I’m a follower. I thought I already was, but signed up again. For some reason, I keep seeing blogs that I know i’m signed up to follow, for some reason I’ve dropped off. I do, however, get your post updates via e-mail, so at least that hasn’t changed. Again – appreciate the giveway. I like the fact that these blocks come from Mexcican tiles. dmj53(at)hotmail(dot)com
