Special thanks to all of you that took the survey last week!  I love having your input.

Today’s featured quilter is Esther!  Esther has beautiful quilts, and I hope you enjoy getting to know her better —

1. When did you begin quilting?

I began quilting nearly 10 years ago.

2. Why do you quilt?

“Have nothing in your homes that you do not know to be useful and believe to be beautiful.” William Morris

The above quote summarises my thoughts exactly. I love my ‘home’ and I quilt because I love the process: it allows you to use so many skills in one creative outlet. If you think about the process of designing right through to the last stitch of quilting…it’s not just an art, it’s a discipline. And the end product – what’s not to love? Of course by home I mean, the life I share with my family – quilts are the heart of necessity – warmth on beds, so why not create some beauty as well?
3. What was your most recent fabric purchase?

I am buying fabric all the time! I am not as disciplined as I should be here, I purchase by ‘eye’ and not to project specifics. I am becoming stricter in this area though…I have to, I’ve run out of shelf space.
4. What is your favorite quilting tip?

My favourite quilt tip is this: share what you know with anyone who wants to know

5. What was your inspiration for your Quilt Festival quilt?

I’m inspired by the natural world…I’m always sketching ideas and stylisations on natural lines. Cherry Thieves is from a sketch made one afternoon in my back garden.

6. Do you sew other things?

Like many quilters I have done much home sewing, especially when my children were growing up. Home decor, dresses for my daughters (with matching dolls clothes on request). Now I mainly sew quilts and the occasional handbag. Although last year I made curtains from some exquisite material so I think I will always be sewing something.

7. Anything else you would like us to know about you?

I have a blog, website and Yahoo Group where I share several free BOMs a year. Everyone is welcome to join in. I love seeing how each quilter makes the quilts their own. It’s so satisfying.

Thank you for sharing Esther!  I love sharing my quilting with others too – fabric friends are friends for life!

Have a great weekend everyone,
