Featuring Michelle — A Bloggers Quilt Festival Quilter!

So, today’s featured quilter is Michelle.  Michelle blogs at City House Studio, and her quilts are beautiful!  I hope you enjoy getting to know Michelle better –

1. When did you start quilting?

I started quilting about 15 yrs ago.  The summer I graduated from college, I decided that I needed/wanted to learn to quilt!  My mom and I went to JoAnn’s, bought a rotary cutter and a book about quilting, and tried to teach ourselves!  We actually cut out all the pieces for that quilt on my mom’s wooden cutting board, on her kitchen counter!

2. Why do you quilt?

I quilt because it makes me happy to create something beautiful.  Really happy if I get to spend a little part of each day creating!

3. What is your favorite quilting tip?

I’m not sure I have a favorite quilting tip.  I feel like I’m constantly learning something new, mostly from all of the amazing and inspiring quilters who blog.  I “google” various tutorials quite a bit, and almost always find exactly what I’m looking for!

4. What was the inspiration for your Quilt Festival quilt?

My inspiration for my Quilt Festival Quilt was my Grandma — I made the quilt as a gift for her 90th birthday — 90 Farmer’s Wife Quilt blocks!

5. Do you sew other things?

Yes, I love to sew dresses, bags, pouches, etc. in addition to quilts!

   I like those scrappy stars! Love how they seem to coordinate without any of it really going together! I need to get on something like that and get rid of my scraps!

   every one of your quilts are inspirational. so beautiful! thanks for sharing. lucky grandma :) to have a sweet granddaughter who sews. that quilt will be a treasure forever! I think I’d like to try making a quilt like your last one shown. janita
