Hi friends! Today’s featured quilter is
Amanda from
Jedi Craft Girl!
Amanda was the winner in the Favorite Wall Hanging category, read on to hear more about her cute quilt!
1. When did you begin quilting?
I began officially quilting when I was 24. I had sewn all while growing up but I made my first quilt when I was expecting my first baby. I bought a “baby quilts” book & I made almost every quilt in the book. I never had any “real” quilt training – I just taught myself.

2. Why do you quilt?
I love the feeling of taking a pile of fabric & batting and turning it into “something”. I LOVE the feeling I get when I sit down at the sewing machine and start sewing little bits of fabric together. I LOVE fabric and all the possibilities. Quilting just makes me happy :)
3.What is your favorite quilting tip?
My favorite quilting tip is to have a good iron and press your seams well. When I teach people to quilt I notice the challenge isn’t so much in the sewing as in the pressing!!
My inspiration in my Quilt Festival “Whooo La La” quilt was the theme fabric I choose. It had such cute owls and fun colors. My upstairs hallway didn’t have much color and I wanted something bright and happy and whimsical and something that would make me smile every time I walked by. This quilt accomplished all that!
5. Do you sew other things?
Yes, I do! I LOVE sewing! I think quilting is my passion, but I love sewing other projects as well. I love to make little girl dresses & skirts. I love embellishing everything, making pillows, table toppers, curtains, bags, purses, zipper pouches, flowers, headbands, banners, aprons…anything that requires thread & fabric I am in! My favorite saying is, “I cannot count my day complete ’till needle, thread, & fabric meet.” That is me for sure!
