Hi friends! Today’s featured quilter is Grit! Grit blogs from Germany, at Grit’s Life, and was the winner of the Bed Quilt category in the spring Blogger’s Quilt Festival. I hope you enjoy getting to know Grit and her quilts better —
1. When did you begin quilting?
I started quilting 16 years ago. A friend of mine showed me a quilt and I loved it. She gave me a book about quilting and I found a picture of a quilt that I really fell in love with. So I started quilting without any experience. I bought books about quilting, took quilting classes and have been quilting ever since.
2. Why do you quilt?
I just love to work with different fabrics, I enjoy the variety of colors and patterns and I think, meanwhile, I can’t live without quilting anymore.
4. What was your inspiration for your Quilt Festival quilt? (above)
Actually there was no inspiration. I saw a quilt like this in a quiltshop in Uelzen and was fascinated. The pattern of this quilt was a real challenge and I fought that if I manage to sew this quilt, this would really be a big step forward.
5. Do you sew other things?
Besides quilting I also love embroidery.
6. Anything else you would like us to know about you?
4 years ago, I started with English Paper Piecing and love this very much. I once saw a hexagon quilt with 12000 pieces and decided I wanted to sew my own. So 2 years ago I started with my hexagon quilt “La Passion”. I`m almost done with it and when it is finished it will consist out of 17000 pieces. It is my own design and the pattern is available on my blog.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful quilts with us Grit! I love your Passion project, and look forward to seeing it complete!
Have a great weekend everyone –
