Jan blogs at Prytz Family, about her quilting and family, and everything in between. Jan’s quilts are beautiful – I hope you enjoy getting to know Jan better –

1. How long have you been a quilter?

I’ve been quilting for four years, and sewing for over 60.

2. Why do you quilt?

Quilting is my artistic outlet.  I’m retired and consider it my “job”, it’s nice to have a focus.  Quilting is what I do when I have down time.

DSCN34103. Why do you participate in Blogger’s Quilt Festival?

I participate for fun.  I love the blogging and quilting community, and the Quilt Festival is a chance to “meet” more people, and show off a little.

4. What was your inspiration for your Quilt Festival quilt, that you shared last spring?  (pictured above)

I wanted to make a Fall themed quilt.  I really didn’t like most of the Autumn leaf quilt ideas I’d found; they were too blockish for me.   I wanted a design that looked as if the leaves were strewn about the quilt top.  I found a sketch of a leaf I loved on a Spanish blogger, Paula of A Toda Tela.  I used her sketch, with adaptations.  Plus, I’d won the Lizzie House fabric I used for this quilt; free fabric is good!   I had a lot of fun making the Autumn Maple Leaf Quilt.

DSCN32885. Anything else you would like us to know about you?

I’m a native Californian.  I’m always busy, I read over 120 books every year, I love photography, I teach Tai Chi and QiGung twice a week.  I love going to NYC, I use any excuse at all to go.  I’m a LA Dodger fan, and I collect sports autographs.  Next May is my 50th anniversary.  I have 2 beautiful daughters and 3 grandchildren.

Thank you for sharing Jan! I love the way you tossed the leaves on your quilt!
