Featuring Nicole — A Blogger’s Quilt Festival Quilter!
1. When did you begin quilting?
I began quilting in 2001 during grad school. I found out about a class that was being held and figured why not! I found quilting a great way to relieve the stress of grad school life.
2. Why do you quilt?
Quilts give me a way to play with design and color, while making something practical for everyday life. It’s also a great stress reliever, at least until I need to pull out the seam ripper!
3. What is your favorite quilting tip?
Practice makes better. No one is born knowing how to quilt, but the more practice we have doing it, the better we become.
My daughter’s birthday was approaching and we planned to get her a doll house. We bought all the furniture and dolls. The thing the house needed to be complete was a handcrafted quilt. It was fun to see how tiny I could make it!
5. Do you sew other things?
I like sewing bags, pillows, doll clothes and costumes for my daughters.
6. What is a new technique you are hoping to learn this year?
I hope to try some new free-motion quilting designs. I’ve got a stack of tops that will give me lots of quilting practice!
I have lots of tops to practice on too! I hope you enjoy the process Nicole
Have a great weekend -
