I think I need a list!
I had a fabulous time at the Quilt Show on Saturday, and I feel like I haven’t stopped since!
Yesterday with the family was so nice and relaxed, after Owen’s nap in the afternoon, we headed down to Salt Lake all together. Family outings can be a challenge, but we all enjoyed ourselves. The Gateway is a nice outdoor mall, and we simply strolled. I wandered through Anthropologie and found these – I was due for a new set :) I love all the linens they have in there. A nice dinner out concluded our evening in the valley and we were on our way into the hills! I love living up away from the city. What a day!! Ella had her last soccer game this morning, she won! The sunshine was great and the little ones did a great job of cheering Ella on :) She got her first goal today even!
After Joe was done working and we met up at the house, I grabbed the camera and took off for Salt Lake. Thanks to him I was able to go on my own and enjoy a few hours of all things QUILT! good times :)
Here’s a few pictures of quilts on display :
Believe it or not there are more quilts in my flickr – I had a hard time selecting a favorite! If you click on any of the pictures it will take you over and there and I’m going to add comments over there too.

This is what I came up with while stitching down my binding yesterday! I love that I have grown as a seamstress, to the point where I can envision a bag, and have the experience to accomplish it! I had a few scraps the same size and that started the thought process, I always want to use up those extra bits somehow :)
There’s not really a front or back . . .
I added pockets to my lining, to fit a phone, pens and miscellaneous bits that always land at the bottom. I added stuff for the picture, but I’m not sure I’m going to keep it . . . have to think it out – it may end up in my etsy shop.
I did a bit of random quilting within the panels.
My only change in … Read More »
I love polka dot bindings and could not resist this shot – or a couple of others over in my flickr. I took pictures of the entire quilt but realized that on the computer it looks the same as the unquilted picture – so I took some close ups! Loop-de-loop quilting adds to the whimsy of the fabrics – at least I think so :)
For the back I chose the patchwork print, in jam. It has lots of teal and green, along with mulberry, yellow, brown, red and the mauvey pink of course!
And because Owen was patient while I took pictures this afternoon – he got in with the quilt too! My kids love seeing themselves in the window after I have taken their picture :)
While stitching down the binding this morning I was brainstorming up … Read More »
I’ve had a couple of good days of mail! Friday my Doll Quilt arrived, and Saturday my STUD mini arrived :) Time for some pictures —
Doll Quilt from Maggistitches –
Over in the discussion thread for DQS we agreed to post a pic of us with the quilt we receive, make it a little more personal. Fun idea – here’s me :)
Here’s the back of the quilt – notice the addition of the front fabrics in the back! So cute.
I really love the quilting too!
Thank you Maggi!
Swap Til You Drop – Spring Flowers mini from Tracy!
And extras :)I love the concentric square quilting on this one too! This is why I have loved getting into swaps – the quilty goodness that comes back to me :) There’s a link in my previous post for a swap … Read More »
I’ve been working on a simple project, and finished the top up last night. I love that this is another project straight from my sketchbook – I also love the Wonderland fabrics! So fun and bright :)
I need to get some batting for it, hopefully today, and I think the quilting will really make this quilt. I am developing my personal philosophy of quilting — Quilts do not to be a complicated pattern to be a beautiful and well loved quilt. I do love lots of complicated patterns, like this, but realize that I would rather be able to finish it than work on it for a year :)
What sort of quilts are your favorite? I have been exposed to so many beauties with our recent festival – truly awed by what some of you … Read More »
The swappers over in flickr really do Swap Til They Drop! I often just watch as the sign-ups are happening, but when “spring flowers” came up as the theme – I couldn’t standby :) My tulips have just finally opened up and a fun little quilt is a great alternative to the real thing – at least in my mind!
Here’s what I sent to Tracy:
You have probably already noticed that it is very similar to this quilt sent for DQS – I worked on them simultaneously :)
There are lots of cute little quilts in the group pool over here – and if you happen to be interested in getting involved in swaps, this is a great place to start! Great group of swappers each month – just go talk/flickr mail the admin :)
I heard from almost all of the 24 winners and had select just two more – I hope that more and more of you add your email to your profile, that way this isn’t an issue :)

So I have this thing. I have to finish before I can move on to the next thing. Not usually a problem – but sometimes I really want to move on to the next thing and my OCD won’t let me!
Today I finished up my block for A Notion or Two, Russ sent out Amy Butler prints to make a quilt for his daughter. It took me a while to be inspired, but in the end I made a mini snowball block.
After finishing up I spent some time ironing and cutting up this —
It’s my month for SewConnected!! I’m excited to see what this becomes with everyone’s creativity. I’ll keep you updated :)
In “other” news – my boy got a haircut.

For a super rainy Saturday, with less the 100 unread emails waiting for me, I set to make my swap blocks! For April, John had sent a great assortment of favorite prints and asked that we make some variation of log cabin blocks. I set out to make a 12.5×18.5″ rectangle (he was asking for specific squares and rectangles) and after double checking my math a couple times – came up with this:
I love the way this turned out, and I’m even thinking I would love my own quilt with these blocks in various sizes! With the solid white/parchment in there it makes a very striking block – at least in my opinion! :)
I made a second, less successful block too – John has agreed to add a final border to it, and make it … Read More »
