But in a good way :) Usually when I get sidetracked, I forget to start lunch, and clean the kitchen instead. Today I have two quick finishes to share with you! Joe thought I was nuts pulling out my sewing machine at 10 last night – I had to see if I could translate my ideas into fabric. You know what I mean!On the left is a quilted/appliqued bookmark, complete with yo-yo flower. To the right is a small quilted wallet. My pics aren’t that great, sorry – we are having a rainy day. Here’s a little detail look:I put the Starbucks card in there for scale. There’s four generous little pockets, that will hold two cards each – or a wad of cash . . . depends on how you roll!

I know that not everyone uses blogger, but for those of you who do – Have you seen the new following feature? I’m going to try it out for a while and see. If you have all your subscriptions in google reader you can just add them easily on your dashboard. Or you can click over there —-> Follow me – k?
The other thing that I really like is having my email address in my profile! A few months ago I was emailing other bloggers trying to figure out how they got their email to come with the comments they left. I was a little crazed trying to figure it out, until I realized I already did! I set up a separate gmail account just for blogging, and added another account in my … Read More »
We spent the last couple of days catching up and exploring new craftiness for my mom! She’s been a seamstress since she was a girl, like myself, and had never made a yo-yo until Thursday. My mom found my yo-yo maker in my handy bin of sewing stuff and that sent her on a new journey. She’s had multiple shoulder surgeries and no longer enjoys sewing garments or doing much at the machine, but loves hand work! We went to JoAnn’s yesterday and purchased a yo-yo maker of her own and 20 fat-quarters to get her started with a lap quilt or pillow topper. We will just have to wait and see how far she gets :)
After eeking out nap time today, we went to the park with the kids – I love the … Read More »
Hi again! I got to sew most of my cancer quilt top together last night, I need to add the borders before I share it with you again. My weeks seem to be flying by! Our nap schedule and school schedule haven’t meshed yet, and so, my sewing/blogging time has been scrapped lately, until 8:30 or so in the evening. We’ll work it out :)
We had our first frost on Tuesday morning! It forced me to go through the extra clothes and pullout pants for the kids yesterday. It is still pretty warm in the day (65-70) and seems to be getting warmer as the week progresses – hopefully we will be in the 80’s again this weekend :) Forgive me if I’m too forward – but does anyone have any little boy … Read More »
I ironed and trimmed up my blocks yesterday and when I had a few moments ALONE this afternoon I laid it out! I should have a chance to get it put together soon :) We do have a special visitor coming this week, but I don’t foresee my machine being put away this time!My girls collected a few leaves that blew off the trees. Can you believe that the colors are starting to change? Well, maybe not where you are – but we’ve had enough cold nights to cause the start. (This picture is for you, Miss Amy) It’s been stormy today, nothing like Gustav, but plenty to free a few leaves. I even saw a fresh dusting of snow on a couple of mountain peaks this morning! I will try to take … Read More »
Thank you to Melissa at WhatKnot! She has gracefully bestowed the Wylde Woman Award to me.Isn’t it beautiful? The artist that started the award (recently) painted this beautiful piece to pass around to those who inspire us.
“Purpose of the Award: To send love and acknowledgment to women who brighten your day, teach you new things and live their lives fully with generosity and joy.”
I would like to send this award to Jacquie. You have a way of bringing a smile to my face, and spark my creativity often, with your posts and comments here – Thank you!
I’m so thankful that this week is behind me! I won’t bore you with lame details but I just haven’t had enough time for myself, or to sew or blog this week. I could have posted a thankful post a couple other times, but couldn’t get myself to the computer long enough to post. :) But having it on my mind that I need to be thankful has been a huge blessing to me, in the midst of my stress. Oh! And I did manage to loose 1.5 lbs this week too! I have a tendency to run into the kitchen when I get emotional – so that’s huge!
I did cut my cancer quilt earlier this week, and I just sewed the blocks this morning! It’s super simple half triangle squares. … Read More »

My day is finally winding down – I still don’t feel like we are in our school routine yet. Hopefully this week will prove me wrong :)
I finished this little beauty yesterday and it made it through the wash today. I know that I’ve said it before. . . but I love the puckery goodness as it comes from the wash. It measures 32×34 inches, I found that these little quilts are great for privacy while nursing too. They don’t collapse on the baby’s face.
Here’s the back – the entire quilt is scraps, so it’s just extra bits sewn together.
I am ready to get started on my cancer quilt – I really need to whip it up!Have a good night ~Amy
PS – I almost forgot that I received another award! Sherri gave … Read More »
I realize that I’m usually posting about my quilting adventures . . . this week seems to have taken a turn toward family life. All I have to say is that it’s me and what has been on my mind. :) I did get to piece a back and quickly quilt this top. So I just need to trim and add a binding – really it should be that simple but coming up with the time to myself has been a challenge. Day by day – right!? We are all feeling much better, thanks for all the caring words :)As you have probably gathered, I also love to bake! This is my favorite summer dessert, oddly enough today was the first time I have made it this summer. It could have something … Read More »
Tuesday. The first day of school. Every year I’m emotional, and Ella’s excited. She’s has missed her friends, and classroom learning all summer, but sending her into “the world” on her own – it leaves me a mess! We pray as we drive to school each morning that she would be safe and have a great day of learning – on Tuesday I just about lost it, yep, while driving. I quickly regained composure and finished our prayer together. She is all smiles, ready to get on with her day. I give her a kiss and hug as she rushes out of the van. She turns around for one last smile and wave, as the door closes between us. This episode has repeated each morning this week – except for … Read More »
An innocent summer cold . . . has turned into a bit of a problem. Including 4 sick kids and one sick mama, just in time for Ella to start 3rd grade. :)
As we are working back into our school year routine, I feel busier than previous years and I’m hoping that things will settle here real quick! Hope you are having a great week!Amy
