I have spent a good chunk of time yesterday and today pinning. Pinning while watching the Olympics! Good clean fun – now I just need to peel myself away from the tube and get to the sewing machine. There’s about 150 sets awaiting sewing – I like to keep everything at the same stage of “production.” I guess it brings a bit of continuity to a project for me :)
Have a good evening and thanks for your encouragement yesterday!Amy
This week I’ve just felt – off. No real explanation, just off. My sewing machine was put away for a whole week! That could have something to do with it. . . but more of me thinks it has to do with life circumstances and changes. School is around the corner here (19th) and the summer seems to have flown by! So much that I wanted to do with the kids but haven’t done, for one ($) reason or another. I have also felt a bit isolated lately, since January I haven’t really had many mom type friends here locally to share life with. My family is my life, I cherish each waking (and sleeping,) moment, wanting to enjoy this time in our lives. I’m not really sure where I’m going with … Read More »
Jenna spent the day here again – and managed to finish her quilt top! Doesn’t it look great?!I have been off my computer the last couple of days so I need to go catch up in bloglines and see what you all have been up to -See you soon!Amy
My Joe turns 30 tomorrow! Yes I am about 1 year older than he – this has been the source of tons of jokes. The day that I turned 25, I was over the hump and nearly 30! When I finally turned 30 it wasn’t a big deal :) Now it’s his turn! We celebrated last night with some family and friends, and we are doing it again tomorrow! Schedules! Deep down I’m really glad to celebrate his birthday twice – it is such a special day why not spread it out a bit. Plus it is more reasons to bake! For the crowd last night Joe requested lasagna. I have an incredible spaghetti sauce that is a staple through winter, but rarely make lasagna – it’s a lot of work! … Read More »
First off – Hello to all of you who have visited via Quilting Bloggers! I will have to go check out more of your blogs :)
I kept two baggies full of tiny triangles from when Jenna was cutting the corners off of her snowballs. I just couldn’t watch all those beautiful scraps go to waste! So now I have put together a couple of blocks so I can hopefully decide where to go next with them.
Did I mention how tiny they are? These completed blocks are 3″ and 2 1/2″ – almost square! Right now I am leaning toward the hourglass. For a couple of reasons, less room for trouble, and I really like the pattern they create when put together. I’ve been wanting to do an hourglass anyway but I really wanted … Read More »
I have so enjoyed sharing my quilting projects here – but the last 24 hours Jenna has been over working on her very own quilt. I have to say having someone to chat with and share quilting info with has been a blast! And today she is super excited about her progress :) She told me earlier – “I knew it would eventually become something, but I never thought it would look so good!”Jenna goes back to school later this month and has been working full-time, I was starting to get concerned that we would have enough time together for her to finish. But my faith is renewed in Jenna! She stayed up past 2 last night ironing all those corners down. We got the pattern laid out while Owen was napping this morning … Read More »
I cut out the same night I posted my first star block these three. I have been working on them as able since and I’m excited to show you :) I’ve been using little scraps from my bin so they are all different and fun. My girls have been asking for place mats so I may just add more to the sides and then quilt them for the girlies. . . have to wait and see!I found this pin cushion via another blogger – Darlene at Quilting Daze, recently asked for help making one and I decided I needed one too! Here’s the tutorial we used – sweet and simple – my favorite quick project. Thanks for stopping by!Amy
My friend Katie is having a giveaway! And the best part is that her giveaway is helping earn money for their adoption. If you would like to have a little extra to spend at Amazon – go check it out! Fun for you, and good for Katie :)
I just finished my first block from AmandaJean’s star quilt-a-long. So fun! Honestly, I’m sorta glad I only started now – I don’t have to wait for next week to start the next! It may seem like I’ve done nothing more than blog and quilt today but I assure you my family is not malnourished nor is the house in complete disarray. But I must be going – dinner must be made :)
I did manage to eek out enough time to finish the top I showed you last week! Our weekends tend to be less routine and more fun family time – which in turn equals less sewing time. . . I like it that way. :)Please excuse the bits of mess you see behind it. . . :) My house is only ever half clean!Do you see the patterns emerging? I like it! I didn’t really expect it that way. I just wanted to balance the red and brown in each block. I had actually thought the blocks would go in the other direction originally – it pays to lay it out and see what works. :) I think it will be a nice fall lap quilt, especially with the corduroy … Read More »
One of the many blogs I subscribe to is 5 minutes for moms. They (twin sisters) have good info on blogging, fun contests, mr. linky to promote each other, and lots of other good stuff. One of yesterday’s posts included a pdf doc with tons of info. Go check it out, and be a more informed blogger!
I hope that you are having a great Friday, and that your weekend is great! I decided this morning that I was going to take the kiddos to the park. I feel like we are just getting to where I can trust everyone, on my own. Without help. My strategy is to put the 2 younger in swings and push them, while watching the older two go up and down the slide, monkey bars, and whatnot. I was pushing three for a while today.
At this particular park, there is a 12 foot tall circular slide. For this mommy it may as well be a skyscraper! I’m not bad with heights, but last time we were there (about a month ago) Sophia (3) climbed to the top with every intention of going down, but … Read More »
