Pulling Fabric
I’ve had these fantastically bright Echino prints on hand for a few months, and finally pulling a few for a new bag, just in time for spring!
I’m excited to get started, and hope to be back later today with pictures of my progress!
See you soon ~ Amy
Lacking Motivation
This weekend passed me by, and I barely sewed a stitch! I found myself with lots of ideas but no motivation to set things up and make progress! Most notable, I know the bag I want to make. I want to alter this pattern to make it better, and actually offer it as a pattern. Now to get started!
I really like the bag, but after carrying it for a few months, I was finding little issues that I had with it, so I’m planning to make some alterations, and cut up some bright springy fabrics to make it!

My New Crochet Bag
I’m so excited to see so many of you taking the challenge on! I’m happy to report that I pieced a table runner for our dining table last night…just need to quilt, and bind it and I will share it with you. I’m excited to have it together – already!
Over the weekend I devised a plan and made a crochet bag for myself. I work on it in the car mostly, picking up girls from school, so I needed a bag to protect it, and keep it at the ready! Turns out it is great for around the house too!
I used a half yard of Amy Butler coated cotton. Not lined, but I used french seams so that there are no raw edges inside the bag.
Joe’s scarf peeking out – I actually have it … Read More »
My New Bag
Hi there! I hope you had a great weekend. My sewing time last week was – ZERO – and I used the weekend to make up for that…at least a little! Do you look at stuff and think “I could make that!” and then never do? Or take months to finally figure it out? I draw out ideas for new bags after I visit a mall (not very often!) or see a cute bag at the grocery store (more often!). Months later realize, it’s still a great idea and now, I’ve made it!
Saturday, after spending a solid hour cleaning, my allergies have been a mess, I set out to draft pattern pieces and sew this little gem. I love having external pockets! I can always find my keys, a pen fits easily, yet snug … Read More »
Back to School – Messenger Bag
Today is the day – off to school! Yesterday we went and got new shoes for each of the girls, happy smiles all around. Shortly after school ended in June, Ella and I talked about a new bag for her. She decided that she wanted a messenger bag, and I asked if we should make it. Being my assistant and seamstress in training she was happy to accept!
Of course I left it until the week before school. Of course!
I gave her some Oz yardage, and had her cut out some flowers and leaves. I had been saving a link to a messenger bag tutorial, so that was easy. I love it when other’s do the math for me!
She’s quite happy with the outcome! The only change I made to the tutorial is the strap – I cut it … Read More »

Sew & Tell
I spent Wednesday – sewing! I didn’t do any dishes, laundry or vacuuming until after 4:30pm! Yeah, the place was a disaster between the kids and all my threads, but I was smiling. As has happened often, I had an idea for a bag that was keeping me awake, needing to be made. So I got busy!My little Sassy Tote. It measures 9″ wide and tall, and 3″ deep. With 2 interior and 1 exterior pocket. It holds all that I need it too, but hopefully I won’t loose stuff in it. Can you tell that’s been a problem lately!?Pretty prints on the back — I love the Amy Butler Love prints!I think my favorite feature is the outside pocket – I’m limiting my keys and phone to this pocket, so I can … Read More »

New Handbag
Yesterday I cut out two bags :) It was a good day – and that was before noon! After bedtime I managed to put one together, the other is waiting patiently for a bit more free time.
Do you recognize it? It is the same bag I’ve been playing with for a while now – this version had been taunting me last week, when I had no time to sit down. Do you like this version!?
I had to add the touch of pink! The other bag I cut had lots of extra fabric, so I added the pink/gray panel. This bag has no quilting and I used fusible fleece for the first time – Love it! I need to go browsing for closures – any suggestions?
Have a great weekend ~Amy
