Bloggers Quilt Festival
I almost didn’t get a quilt in the festival this week! But here I am blogging at the last minute – it just didn’t seem right to not have a post!
This is one of my favorite quilts, that I made and wrote a pattern for after turning in all my quilts for Modern Basics. It was a simple, relaxed, meditative process, instead of the rush of book production. I really enjoyed taking my time with it, even though it did go together pretty quick!
I used linen with Moda Crossweaves which I love. They are so vibrant and yet have subtle variations to them.
The touch of color in the binding is one of my favorite details, and I love the heft that the linen gives to the entire quilt. It is quite snuggly to sit … Read More »

Oh my goodness! How many of the quilts have you had a chance to look through? I know some of you were flustered on Friday with the blogger outage, hopefully everything has been restored for you! It made me glad that I had moved to a wordpress blog – because I did not need one more thing to stress about last week! I need to catch up with hundreds of emails, and begin processing my Market experience. Such an overload of quilting people and friends, and networking opportunities for The Sewing Summit!
Here’s a quick picture from my schoolhouse – which went great – thankfully! Never mind my funny face, I’m talking.
I had so much fun talking with anyone and everyone about Modern Basics! This is me signing books for people waiting … Read More »

Looking back at my three years of blogging, I’ve learned a lot about taking pictures! No doubt if you go back and look at my first posts, you will find poorly lit pictures, and rarely a full quilt. Since we are counting down to the next installment of Bloggers’ Quilt Festival (2 weeks!), I thought I would share a few of my own tips for taking great photos of your beautiful quilts!
Don’t be too hard on me…it’s my first video here! And I hope you learned something new too.
Are you ready for Bloggers’ Quilt Festival?
Hope so! Happy quilting ~

Any style of quilt/quilter is welcome to join. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been quilting for weeks or years, finish a quilt and take some great pictures.
Help spread the word by posting on your blog, and sharing a button in your sidebar. The code is in my sidebar to the right. Thanks!
All the festivities begin on May 13, and you can find more information about how to get involved here.
Happy Quilting ~
Winners – at last!
Thank you to everyone that has participated in the Festival. I’m always amazed at the mass of genuine and generous quilters willing to share their quilts and the story that goes with it. I was talking about my blog with a group of teachers last week, and read an entry to them — there were many of us in tears (myself included) and that’s just one example of how powerful our words are. I hope that you have been inspired and moved while perusing the festival. There’s a lot of love in each of our quilts! The best part is – the quilts will forever be on display here – so there’s lots of time to check them all out! Please send me your feature nominations as you look – I’ve gotten a few, but need lots … Read More »

The Festival continues to be amazing and well viewed! I hope you all are enjoying a bunch of traffic and comments on your posts. I finished my quilt I was hoping to share with you this week!
I had so much fun designing and making this quilt! It had been one of many designs in my arsenal waiting for just the right fabric, and when Sweet Divinity popped up – I jumped at the chance to make it!
I carefully cut and pieced triangles and strips for each block. I think my favorite part is that there are so many different places to look – each fabric offers a different focal point! Also, after nearly a year, I stippled this quilt! I had a block on free motion quilting, but this was just the right size to … Read More »
