Bloggers’ Quilt Festival :: Fall 2011

Posted on October 28th, by Amy in Bloggers Quilt Festival. 673 comments

Welcome to the Festival!  Each fall and spring when we gather online to share quilts, I’m so inspired, and even more encouraged by this fantastic community of quilters!  Thank you all for sharing your quilts, and their stories, for me each story is just as important, as the work put into the quilts.  The story is where we get a sense of you, the maker, and the love put into each stitch.

Please know that your skill level, or style of quilts are not in question – everyone is welcome to participate.  Join in the fun!  Make some new friends while you browse the show, and be inspired!

First up, a big THANK YOU to our sponsors!  They have generously donated prizes for all of you to win.  Be sure to stop by their shops, browse our vendor mall, while taking in all the … Read More »

Featuring Claudia — A Bloggers’ Quilt Festival Quilter!

Posted on September 23rd, by Amy in Bloggers Quilt Festival, Featured Quilter. 7 comments

Hi friends!  With all the preparations for the Sewing Summit, I’m late in spreading the word about the next installment of Bloggers’ Quilt Festival.  Have no fear, it will be up and running October 28 – November 4!  While reading take note of the new button code in the sidebar, and add one to your blog.

Today’s featured quilter is Claudia!  Claudia‘s bold color choices make fun quilts – I hope you enjoy getting to know Claudia better —

1.  When did you begin quilting?

About 8 years ago, I became interested in quilting.  My sister, who has always been a fabulous seamstress and quilter, encouraged me to give it a try.  She suggested I try a 9-patch pattern from a magazine.  Little did I know that it was a challenging project for a newbie – the smallest 9-patch pieces finished to about … Read More »

Here’s a comprehensive list of all the prizes and their winners!  All selected via random number generator, and each entry verified by me!  I had to pick a few alternate winners after the first go…a few sponsors, and my own number even came up!  Not fair so I selected again.

Please check the list carefully and those of you that have a winning number, should have an email from me as well! (maybe check your spam)  If not, just email me and will will sort out the details!

Thank you all for sharing your beautiful quilts, and remember, anytime you need a dose of inspiration this festival will be available!

Many thanks to all of our sponsors – the event wouldn’t be near the success without each of you.

My Bloggers’ Quilt Festival Entry

Posted on May 20th, by Amy in Bloggers Quilt Festival. 30 comments

I almost didn’t get a quilt in the festival this week!  But here I am blogging at the last minute – it just didn’t seem right to not have a post!

This is one of my favorite quilts, that I made and wrote a pattern for after turning in all my quilts for Modern Basics.  It was a simple, relaxed, meditative process, instead of the rush of book production.  I really enjoyed taking my time with it, even though it did go together pretty quick!

I used linen with Moda Crossweaves which I love.  They are so vibrant and yet have subtle variations to them.

The touch of color in the binding is one of my favorite details, and I love the heft that the linen gives to the entire quilt.  It is quite snuggly to sit … Read More »

Overload!

Oh my goodness!  How many of the quilts have you had a chance to look through?  I know some of you were flustered on Friday with the blogger outage, hopefully everything has been restored for you!  It made me glad that I had moved to a wordpress blog – because I did not need one more thing to stress about last week!  I need to catch up with hundreds of emails, and begin processing my Market experience.  Such an overload of quilting people and friends, and networking opportunities for The Sewing Summit!

Here’s a quick picture from my schoolhouse – which went great – thankfully!  Never mind my funny face, I’m talking.

I had so much fun talking with anyone and everyone about Modern Basics!   This is me signing books for people waiting … Read More »
