Hi friends! Today all the contributors to Modern Quilts From the Blogging Universe are participating in a Blog Blitz! To learn more visit the blog at shopmartingale.com for details!
Jigsaw is the quilt I made for the book, it’s pieced in columns or rows, and the small size goes together pretty quickly!
We also included a twin size in the book, which I would love to make.
I love the gradient of colors in this example.
I also had fun filling it in with Constellations by Lizzie House:
I love the varying blues in this collection, and the prints are fab – Must buy soon!
With the blog blitz, we are each giving away an ebook.
To win, leave me a comment, about your … Read More »

Hi friends! This may be old news to some of you, but I have a quilt in Martingale’s latest compilation book Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe. There are 19 quilts in this one book, each from a blogger in our own community!
See that one on the top left? That’s mine! It’s called Jigsaw, and made without blocks – just cut and sew the quilt top. I’m really excited for the advance copies to arrive, all the projects are fantastic, and there’s a few I’d like to make myself!
This quilt is super fun and simple to make, in any color scheme! I’m excited to see it made by some of you. I made it in a 50″ square but instructions are included for a twin size too, and from there … Read More »
I always love to see what my friends at Fat Quarterly are sewing up, and was happy to have a chance to review their new book! Shape Workshop for Quilters is a great addition to your quilting library – they have included 60 block patterns, and a dozen projects that include quilts, pillows and other home decor.
With the inclusion of so many blocks, the idea is that you use this book as a jumping off point for your creativity. Push the boundaries of your comfort zone and create something truly unique!
Each shape has been given it’s own chapter – squares & rectangles, circles, triangles, stars, polygons and diamonds. Of all the chapters I think triangles is my favorite, the blocks are diverse and the projects are attainable.
I loved the quote at the beginning of the chapter “Triangles are … Read More »

A little over a year ago, I was approached about contributing to a book featuring Kona Cottons. I immediately responded with a “yes” and happily submitted ideas and made my quilt. Fast forward, and I have copies of We Love Color in my possession!
I spent a few hours yesterday looking through all the quilts, there’s so much great company in the book. I’ve been a little impatient, wanting to know what everyone else made. There is a wide variety of quilts, and so much inspiration!
I will have to share more pictures later, the quilt is on the way to Market, (without me) to promote the book. But here’s a quick peek –
A picture, of a picture, of a quilt isn’t the same at all, but hopefully you get a good idea of my piecing and the fab quilting that Natalia did for … Read More »
No doubt you’ve seen this book around the last couple of weeks! I submitted two blocks for consideration in Modern Blocks: 99 Quilt Blocks from Your Favorite Designers and both of them have been included. Which also means that I have a copy to give away to one of you!
While designing I hoped to create dynamic blocks on their own, but also be able to visualize them as a quilt of one block. So I thought I would share my sketches with you!
First is Pixel Peaks –
With this block, I was inspired by a rug I had seen at a friends house. Super simple construction, it’s just a matter of cutting the pieces, but if you wanted to make a whole quilt, it could easily be strip pieced! … Read More »

In making preparations for our trip to Washington, I knew that a trip to Martingale was in order! Having worked with these ladies to publish and now begin marketing my book, there’s been lots of emails, but no face to face meeting. So we fixed it! Grandpa volunteered to stay home and play with the kids while Joe, my mom, sister and I had a field trip.
Can you see the rain? Ya, it was a very wet day!
Karen gave us the tour and introduced us to people around the office.
There are quilts hanging on all the walls! This one is from Marie Osmond’s Heartfelt Giving: Sew and Quilt for Family and Friends just out last month.
We also were able to meet the in-house photographer and see where he brings projects to life, … Read More »
