There seems to be NO shortage of amazing new books to add to our quilting libraries! Today’s review is for Imagine Quilts by my friend Dana Bolyard of Old Red Barn Co., she’s taking everyday inspiration (including your fabric!), and showing you how her brain works, to make those ideas into beautiful quilts!
I love Dana’s voice throughout the book, and the 11 patterns that she’s included are fresh and unique. Her cover quilt, Posy Patrol, is a fun pattern full of gorgeous prints, both bright and muted tones. Ampersand is a great bold pattern, using beautiful solids, and inspiration to look around you for your own graphic quilt.
I love some of the different ideas and techniques Dana uses too! Using a dresden wedge to make this inspired quilt :
And the photography is really fun – they used a barn to … Read More »

Hi there! It was brought to my attention last week that there are just 15 more Friday’s until Christmas! My first reaction was disbelief, but as I ticked the months off in my mind, I knew it was an accurate count. Currently, I’m not at all ready for the holidays, or to sew for them, but my friend Candy has a stellar new e-book full of beautiful handmade gifts for anyone on your list!
Create Handmade Gifts for All is a collection of Candy’s projects, made in her always beautiful hand-dyed fabrics. If you aren’t familiar with Candy’s work you should definitely check out her home online – CandiedFabrics it’s chalk full of info. Of course these projects would be beautiful … Read More »

I’ve been sewing on a top secret project, a little, hopefully I have time to get to a few little things I have in mind this week too.
What are you working on?

I’m of the sort, that likes to try a pattern as intended to begin, then see about how I might alter, or extend the pattern. So I made a simple runner (just the top, so far) over the course of a couple evenings.
Without thinking, I started pinning the curved edges together. I snapped a pic and posted it to instagram and facebook, and had a few people comment about using glue to baste. Duh! I have few tubes of LapelStick to put to use!
Once I started … Read More »
