Welcome all of those stopping by from Sew, Mama, Sew! If you haven’t been by before, feel free to poke around and get to know me better!
My handmade offering is this sweet doll quilt, from Quilting From Little Things, by Sarah Fielke.
I made it a few weeks ago, and feel the need to share with one of you! It measures 15″ square, complete with hand quilting, and a hand-stitched binding.
To win, answer one simple question:
How many gifts have you managed to make this year?
And don’t feel bad if the answer is none – that’d be my answer!
I’ll select a winner by random number generator, on Friday, December 16, 2011.
Thanks for stopping by ~

Holiday Wish List for Quilters
Do you make a list for the people shopping for your holiday gifts? I have one in my head, but haven’t given it to Joe yet. (I should do that!) I thought today I would share a few ideas, some of my favorite notions and places to shop. Read on for ideas, and a giveaway!
1. Warm & Natural is my go-to batting! And I can never have enough – add a pre-packaged batting to your list, it’s easy to wrap and get under the tree.
2. Lapel Stick, this special glue stick, is so handy! Use it in place of pins when adding a zipper, or teaching your kids to sew. Makes a great stocking stuffer too! It’s original design is to quickly fix a hem, or keep the pesky strap in place.

Dyeing to Stitch :: Blog Tour & Giveaway
I have the honor of sharing a new DVD with you today!
My friend Candy, recently filmed all her dyeing secrets with Quilting Arts, and has a 70 minute DVD to start you on your dyeing journey, or answer all your unanswered questions!
Candy is a Biology Professor at the University of Redlands, by day, which makes her very concise, and a great presenter of information! The DVD is broken into chapters, making it easy to get to the information that you need.
I loved seeing Candy in action, she shares her methods for mixing dyes and how to scrunch/pleat your fabric for varied effects. She uses a low water immersion process to dye, so you don’t need a 10 gallon pot to alter a yard of fabric (bonus!). After many experiments, she … Read More »

Modern Mix :: Review & Giveaway
I’m excited to share another new book with you today! Modern Mix by Jessica Levitt is all about using solid fabrics with your prints – as I love solids, I’m loving Modern Mix!
Jessica has beautifully used solids with prints, and not just white, I might add. A great variety of Kona cottons have been selected, with stunning results. In some projects the prints play a major roll, and others the solids are the lead. Jessica encourages the reader to be fearless in fabric selections, and making the project your own.
There’s 16 projects total in Modern Mix, 7 modern quilts with great bags, and home decor projects interspersed. Sure to be a source of inspiration for any sewist!

Deploy That Fabric :: Review & Giveaway
I’m honored to share a new book with you today, Deploy that Fabric by Jen Eskridge. Jen writes “Thank you to our military service members–the men and women who defend our freedoms and protect our way of life.” And her desire is to honor service members by breathing new life into no longer needed uniforms.
I am certain that this book is doing just that! Jen offers diagrams for deconstructing uniforms into usable fabric, and tips for what to keep, and where to use your seam ripper. Have you wondered what colors/prints work best with uniforms? Jen removes all apprehension, by stating that a uniform should be treated as a neutral! Mix your favorite prints, and get started!
Deploy That Fabric is full of projects! 9 purses and totes, 4 holiday projects, 4 quilts … Read More »
