Hi there! I’ve been teasing you all week with my applique project, and it is finished and ready to share! Actually, I could only narrow it down to two patterns, and I had to ask one of my girls which she liked better. She helped me decide on Amelia’s Spring Delight:
Selecting fabrics – I would usually lean toward solids in place of batiks, since I haven’t stashed those, yet. However, I forced myself to look closer at my prints, and select a few favorite prints to work with. I think all the prints make it … Read More »

Hi there! This exciting challenge came through my inbox and I thought I should share!
This challenge was created to celebrate the history of sewing by recognizing both SINGER® and Coats & Clark, who are both celebrating significant anniversaries this year (160th and 200th, respectively); as well as educate and inspire through the life and work of Mary Brooks Picken, the authority on fashion and dressmaking in the early and mid-1900s .
Here’s a video from Amy explaining the challenge:
Visit Amy’s site, here, for details about patterns, and to download free patterns that can be used for the challenge. Also, Amy and her team have offered to give one of you two patterns of your choice, from Indygo Junction, to help you jump into the challenge.

I’m excited to be participating in this blog tour celebrating Nancy Zieman’s most recent Trace ‘N Create templates. All month long you will see lots of creativity on the participating blogs, as each blogger shares their personal Tablet Keeper.
One of my sewing projects last week was my own Tablet Keeper!
Nancy’s new template set is perfect for your e-reader or iPad, but if you prefer paper there’s options for a paper pad as well! The best part is there’s no paper pattern pieces to keep track of, all the measurements, and markings for three sizes, are on one template.
I made the medium size to fit my iPad. Once I cut my pieces and added interfacing the project went smooth and quick!
The instructions are on precise, and easy to follow. Also the … Read More »
