Long Arm Quilting
#1A recently finished quilt is now gracing the cover of American Patchwork and Quilting! This issue is due to start showing up on newsstands today, but I know some of you have gotten it in your mailbox already.
The fabrics are Modern Neutrals (of course!) and I paired two traditional blocks for a unique “Layered Look”. I also quilted this myself, with pebbles in the light areas, and a few large petals in the flowering snowball blocks.
Here’s a flat shot of the quilt – Layered Look :

I’ve been working on this quilt, over the last few days – I don’t seem to have enough hours in the day, but it has been fun to work on! It’s not black and white, just took the color out until I can post the finish – any ideas on the fabric line(s) included?
More soon –
This quilt has been in the works since April, I think! It’s fairly simple, and was pieced quickly, but I wanted to build my confidence before I loaded it on the long-arm. Looking at it now, I’m glad I waited a bit!
I call it “Formation”, as I’m reminded of a flock of geese as I look at it, and the traditional name for the triangles is “flying geese” – fits right!?
This is the first of many projects for Baby Lock over the next few years – I will let you know when a pattern is available on their site.
I was initially inspired by Emily’s fabric – Technicolor is a fun and vibrant collection, and one of the prints is groupings of triangles. You can see it in my quilt if you look close. Then when quilting it, I took my … Read More »
When I originally pieced this quilt top, I called it my Scrappy Solution…four years later it’s quilted! This pattern actually made it’s way into Modern Basics, as Twisted Bars, if you are interested in making your own.
I had thought I would add a binding then show it off, but it won’t be happening this week. Getting all the details into posts for Blogger’s Quilt Festival is taking up my sewing time. Here’s a few details in the quilting -
I did loop-de-loops over the main area of the blocks, and in the corners where the square is formed I tried a few different things, before I decided to quilt the graduated loops. I’m having fun quilting with the Crown Jewel! Of course, I did pin this top three times before I … Read More »
Hi friends – I’ve been having fun quilting, and wanted to share a few pictures with you, and a great sale happening online this weekend!
My days are choppy with Owen in Kindergarten, so I worked on this for two afternoons, while he had fun playing with Lego. I had to look back through my archives to find when I pieced this top – I’ve had it hanging in the closet for a while…turns out it was four years ago! I plan to add a scrappy binding soon, and I will share more photos.
I cut and prepped pieces for a new tote for Market too! PB&J is super soft and I had just enough to cut all the pieces – more soon.
I’ve been working on Dancing Stars blocks as I can … Read More »
Life is full, and I am blessed! It just makes it hard to keep up with everything ;) So I thought I would share a couple of highlights from the last few days.
This is a peek at a Christmas quilt in progress – a first for me. I’m excited to see it come together!
I have been adding to the space around the longarm too. My collection of mini quilts from various swaps add inspiration, and a good dose of color!
The quilt draped on the longarm includes some new fabrics from my friend Emily – more on Technicolor soon!
Are you ready for Blogger’s Quilt Festival?
Many have asked – with multiple linkys will multiple quilts be allowed?
Thinking about it more, … Read More »
Technically, it’s bigger, and heavier than my kiddos, but a new sewing machine is just as exciting around here!
My friends at Baby Lock have provided the Crown Jewel, a 18″ long arm, in exchange for some projects and tutorials for all of you and their loyal readers! It’s a win-win situation :) (Yep! That’s a pallet in my driveway!)
Thankfully Joe was home yesterday afternoon when it was delivered – I know I could have put it together, but I trust it a lot more with his handiwork. The table went up, we made lots of adjustments and rearranged a few things in the space around the table.
Isn’t she pretty?
The kids kept checking in on our progress, Ella and Sophia were excited to … Read More »
