New Cut!

Posted on May 29th, by Amy in Me. 44 comments

I’ve been cracking up with all the comments I’ve had the last few days! A few of them really are plain gross too – next time I may think a little harder about the sort of comments I ask for :) I was hoping to not get bored – that’s all!

Today I finally managed to get a haircut – I’ve been overdue for a couple of months. It feels really nice to have it all cut off again! I’m not at all attached – can you tell?Yes, I know there’s root’s in there – I’d rather buy my color in a box and spend the rest on fabric – Thank you! At least you can’t see most of the gray right now :) A fun bob to get me through the coming summer. … Read More »

Looking Ahead

Posted on January 4th, by Amy in Me. 10 comments

I’m not one to set resolutions. I do have goals, but they have been formulating much longer than the week prior to New Years’. I’m sure there are many of you that can relate. I thought I would share my goals here and look back next year to see how far I’ve come -

- First and foremost I want to be the best mom and wife that I can be to my family. Even when it means putting off this post until the 4th :)

- I have many quilt designs that I want to make, and see in reality not just paper.

- I think I may want to learn to crochet. . . maybe with felting yarn!?

- And I want to do more embroidery.

- I need to learn how to take better care of my … Read More »

I Am Thankful : : 8

Posted on November 28th, by Amy in Me, Thankful. 9 comments

It seems I have avoided this place for much of the week. This year has been full of ups (mostly our children) and downs. As you know I am always thankful for the big and little blessings in my life – I AM blessed. But this Thanksgiving was different – in so many ways. I didn’t want to be a wet blanket for anyone else, and haven’t been sure how to express myself – so I didn’t. We were blessed to be with good friends for the holiday, and there was tons of good food too!

I guess I miss our church family most of all. Being around a table of 20+ people, young and old, coming each with something delicious to share. It’s been that way for 5 years, and now being here … Read More »

For Me

Posted on November 24th, by Amy in Me, My kids. 4 comments

I know that they could have used it though, they have been at each other’s throats since 7:30 this morning. Rest time. I’m sure some of you are thinking “What she hasn’t been having rest time!?”

In my defense – for the last 5 years almost, I have had a baby and a napper, who would both go down for a nap in the afternoon. And the bedrooms up stairs are right next door to one another – causing one to keep the other up, if rest time were to go awry. So I haven’t done rest time.

Today – I’m losing it and it’s only noon. Emmalie and Sophia, only 17 months apart, are both independent and smart little girls. Many days they play together without trouble, other days they are trying their … Read More »

One Day at a Time

Posted on October 22nd, by Amy in Me, My kids. 14 comments

A neighbor (without kids) said to me in the middle of the grocery store with my kids – “I don’t know how you do it.” She had a smile, but I could see that she was concerned/amazed. Whenever we are together in public, my kids do alright, this day they were two in the cart and two out, and I was fielding three questions at once, as usual. They know that they are to sit, when in the cart, and hold on to the side when walking. We’ve been very consistent so that they know that it doesn’t change. After answering the questions and setting Owen down again (he’s still learning) I looked at her and said “One day at a time.”

It really is that simple for me, I will say that not every … Read More »

7 Random Facts

Posted on October 11th, by Amy in Me, random, tag. 3 comments

I was tagged last week by Summer, and have been a bit remiss in posting – oops! I always love reading the random meme’s about others so figured I better play along.

Oh, and it started snowing about an hour ago! It won’t stay, but it is still crazy to see snow on the trees with leaves :)1 ~ I greatly dislike feet. Especially bare feet touching my bare feet.

2 ~ I’ve been feeling extra domestic lately. Planning menu’s and whatnot – it seems that fall is here!

3 ~ I really need to recover my ironing board.

4 ~ I enjoy flavored creamers in my coffee – usually fat free.

5 ~ TV I like : Project Runway, Top Design, 30 Rock, The Office, The Amazing Race, The Locator, What Not To Wear, ‘Til Death.

6 ~ … Read More »

Updates

Posted on September 26th, by Amy in Me, My kids. 5 comments

This week has been a rollercoaster! I will have to tell you more on that later.

I managed to lose 2 lbs. in the midst of a busy week! Hooray :) Since my little incident last week, I have been able to slowly get moving again – I had 2 bruised knees and one shoulder . . . this week it’s just been my one knee with itchy scabs. I’m not showing pictures ’cause it’s not pretty! However, I would like to share a picture of my kids! They are the inspiration for most everything I do – whether it is laundry, cleaning up, or quilting, they give me a boost to keep going – mostly because they NEVER stop! And I love them so much :)More later!Amy

Ouch!

Posted on September 16th, by Amy in Me. 5 comments

Let me preface this post by saying – “I am a klutz!” I’ve known this for years – but what am I to do!?

This morning we got home from taking Ella to school. (She’s at the public school, and we are to close for the bus, but to far for her to walk alone)

Sophia got her hood stuck on the inside of the van door, you know the latch hook thingy.

I was already at the front door, getting it open, as she starts crying. My first thought is that the door shut on her fingers, (a big fear of mine). Not her fingers just her hood – Thank God!

Owen in arms, I start over to her, and trip on my own shoe. . . I stumbled across the driveway, only to finally fall when Owen … Read More »

Legacy

Posted on September 12th, by Amy in Me, Quilts 4 Cancer. 7 comments

The question has been asked, and it is very poignant this week. “What do you want your legacy to be?” For me it is simple, I want to live in relationship with those around me, and online, in a way that is meaningful and full of love. I would like to be in deep with people, trusted, and able to trust. Considering where our family has been this year – trust, is a hurdle right now :) Any way, everything else flows together if my relationships are good.Working on this quilt took on new meaning this week. I learned that a young lady, Jessie, who has been fighting a rare cancer, passed away. We know her family a bit (long story), and I cannot imagine the mix of emotion that they are dealing … Read More »

Off

Posted on August 8th, by Amy in Me. 5 comments

This week I’ve just felt – off. No real explanation, just off. My sewing machine was put away for a whole week! That could have something to do with it. . . but more of me thinks it has to do with life circumstances and changes. School is around the corner here (19th) and the summer seems to have flown by! So much that I wanted to do with the kids but haven’t done, for one ($) reason or another. I have also felt a bit isolated lately, since January I haven’t really had many mom type friends here locally to share life with. My family is my life, I cherish each waking (and sleeping,) moment, wanting to enjoy this time in our lives. I’m not really sure where I’m going with … Read More »

What Was I Stressing About?

Posted on July 11th, by Amy in Me. 4 comments

oh right – everything!

It’s weird how one little thing can make everything seem stressful – but it does. My younger 2 take afternoon naps usually around the same time, while my older 2 play outside. We have worked into a nice summer schedule :) Only today my girls didn’t go outside right away – just having fun inside – and so Owen was woken up. They are never quiet, and why should they be, they are kids! It just sent me today – Owen whining in his crib, and them invading my quiet time.

I got them plastered in sunscreen – and sent them out. Ah a little better.I left Owen in his bed – he wasn’t screaming just whining – he went back to sleep. Lots better.A phone call from Joe – “Don’t … Read More »

How Are You?

Posted on June 18th, by Amy in Me. 6 comments

I was on my way to pick Ella up at VBS today, and started to panic. Just a little. I was on my way to a different church in the area and realized that I could run into people from our church that had caused it’s demise. Yes it is a small town, and even smaller churched group.

I was thinking how would I respond to that question now? How are you? Back in January, I remember thinking, “please don’t ask me.” I didn’t want to respond to them harshly, or bawl my eyes out on a Sunday morning. I also remember, “please ask me,” I wanted to know that they actually cared about me the way that I did them. I would like to think that God has brought us through the … Read More »
