Today the tour stops over at Crazy Mom Quilts!

Amanda Jean asked me the “how” question…looking back at what I was doing last year at this time, things were kinda crazy, and I’m so glad that I’ve moved past the production phase!  It’s much more fun to share the book with all of you.

Anyway – Visit Amanda Jean to see what she has to say about Modern Basics, and a chance to win your own copy!

Modern Basics Blog Tour :: Day 1

Posted on February 21st, by Amy in Modern Basics. 11 comments

Today is the first day of  the Modern Basics blog tour!

I’m very excited to have sent my book to a group of friends that will be posting over the next two weeks about Modern Basics, and offering each of you a chance to win a copy.

—–

As Natalia is the extraordinary quilter for all the quilts in the book, it seemed fitting to start the tour with her!  Natalia is a great friend, that is close by, so we occasionally find time to get together and swap stories about all the good stuff going on.

Visit Natalia and see what she has to say about Modern Basics, and a chance to win a copy of your own!

Check back each day to see where the tour is stopping next.

My Link List – For You!

The Lizzie B Girls have a new eMag to share!  There’s some fun projects and entertaining reads in there and it’s free.  Go check it out here!
My book is now shipping from Amazon!
If you would like an autographed copy, I have a few left in my shop too!
The blog tour for Modern Basics is starting next Monday.  I hope you’ll enjoy hopping with us!

I’m so glad that so many are excited about Calypso Swing – I love the vibe, and look forward to piecing a quilt top.
I caved and ordered some hexagons for paper piecing over the weekend.  I’m excited to have some hand work, but a bit overwhelmed by the long term nature of a quilt…they will probably become smaller projects.  Paperpieces is offering free domestic/international shipping this week.

That’s all for the moment –

Modern Basics: Easy Quilts to Fit Your Budget, Space & Style

Today is the big day!  Modern Basics is officially released!

I thought I would share a few pictures from inside the book, first up is my favorite:

I love big stacks of quilts, and they did such a great job with this pile!  All 14 quilts, in the garden, on an incredible chair!   There are images of all the quilts, if you can’t wait for your copy, here.  Here’s my introduction too:

I have to say that I loved working on this book, and I loved working with the staff at Martingale.  Everyone that I have had contact with or met has been great to work with and enthusiastic about the project!

Stay tuned!  I have pre-orders available in my shop, and will ship as soon as I have books in … Read More »

Modern Basics and More!

Posted on January 10th, by Amy in Inspiration, Modern Basics, moments. 18 comments

I hope you had a great weekend!  I did!  I spent Saturday being lazy in the morning, first week back to school was a little rough.  Then in the afternoon, I met up with Erin and her family, they were escaping the inversion (yucky air) down in the valley.  Finally, I went to Season of Home where Natalia has her quilts hanging this month, and had a chance to chat with her too!  I’ve grown close to both these ladies in the last year, we first met online (of course), but since Natalia quilted all my book quilts, and Erin is my partner/co-conspirator for The Sewing Summit.  After a busy Saturday, I spent Sunday getting laundry done (still not folded) and watching football with the family!  Lots of fun, and a little sewing mixed in.

Having gotten my advance copy of Modern … Read More »

Friends at Martingale & Comany

In making preparations for our trip to Washington, I knew that a trip to Martingale was in order!  Having worked with these ladies to publish and now begin marketing my book, there’s been lots of emails, but no face to face meeting.  So we fixed it!  Grandpa volunteered to stay home and play with the kids while Joe, my mom, sister and I had a field trip.

Can you see the rain?  Ya, it was a very wet day!

Karen gave us the tour and introduced us to people around the office.

There are quilts hanging on all the walls!  This one is from Marie Osmond’s Heartfelt Giving: Sew and Quilt for Family and Friends just out last month.

We also were able to meet the in-house photographer and see where he brings projects to life, … Read More »

Home, Sweet Home

Posted on October 26th, by Amy in Bloggers Quilt Festival, Modern Basics. 15 comments

My quilts are home!  I’m so happy to see these friends that I spent hours, no days/weeks laboring over last winter.

They came in two boxes from the publisher, but I removed the plastic that they were in and stood them on end to take a quick picture for you.  Want to see if you can name the fabric groups of all 14 quilts?  Kinda tough since some (most)  just have the backs showing….I’ll have to take a lot more pictures and show off Natalia’s beautiful quilting – soon!

Today, I’ve posted over at Stash Manicure!  It’s an invite to participate with Blogger’s Quilt Festival – I hope you’ll check it out.

And if you haven’t had a chance to listen to the radio program with Pat Sloan, you can listen here!  I had so much fun chatting with … Read More »
