Mountain Snow

Posted on December 13th, by Amy in My kids. 14 comments

It feels like winter is finally here – to stay too! I have a fresh homemade cappuccino here with me, and my Grandma’s Leaf Rolls are baking – filling the house with cinnamon-sugar aromas. My girls are watching Christmas movies after having tuckered out playing in the snow. It’s a great day!

Joe went out with the kids, while I was prepping my bread, after I finished up, I grabbed my coat, hat and camera. I just had a few moments to take pictures between fixing a glove or replacing a hat. Then Owen’s little fingers were cold and we were done!Sophia

Nativity

I hope that you had a great weekend! Mine was busy as usual, and good family time too.

We set up our tree during the week, my skirt looks just right under it! Yes, we have a fake tree. . . while living in Southern California, we were in campus housing (Joe was working on his MA), and for insurance purposes no real trees were allowed – so we went to the local walmart/kmart (I don’t remember which) and got a little tree, for our little apartment, and still use it every year! I’ve been batting the kids away from the tree since Wednesday – Owen just had to press his luck, and see if he would get into trouble for touching. It’s made for a little extra activity on my part, just keeping track of … Read More »

For Me

Posted on November 24th, by Amy in Me, My kids. 4 comments

I know that they could have used it though, they have been at each other’s throats since 7:30 this morning. Rest time. I’m sure some of you are thinking “What she hasn’t been having rest time!?”

In my defense – for the last 5 years almost, I have had a baby and a napper, who would both go down for a nap in the afternoon. And the bedrooms up stairs are right next door to one another – causing one to keep the other up, if rest time were to go awry. So I haven’t done rest time.

Today – I’m losing it and it’s only noon. Emmalie and Sophia, only 17 months apart, are both independent and smart little girls. Many days they play together without trouble, other days they are trying their … Read More »

"It smells so goooood in here!"

Posted on November 19th, by Amy in Baking, My kids. 11 comments

Words from Ella as she came inside from playing at 4:45pm. Yes, the sun has already set here by then. While they were outside I whipped up a batch of these yummy pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Well technically my mixer did the grunt work, but someone has to operate it – right? And I let each one have a small cookie before dinner – I wasn’t able to wait myself either. Yummy :) And here’s their smiling faces to prove it!Ella – always ready with a pose and smile.

Emmalie – I had to ask her to open her eyes – her smile is that big!

Sophia – she likes to roll her eyes at the camera – or is it me? Pretty sure it’s the camera!

And Owen! Who happens to … Read More »

A New Look

Not the blog! Owen :)We have been going back and forth about how to cut his hair for a month or so. . . I finally just grabbed my scissors and went for it! Our girls were bald until they were 2, and never a haircut before 3, and our boy has a full head of hair! This is a pic of Owen in all his messy glory – he loves to rearrange, anything and everything. I am working on the book shelf with him – it’s too much to have it unloaded 2-3 times a day. Mostly board books they can’t really be hurt, but I don’t have enough floor space to ignore the pile. You can see how long his hair was in this picture too – in his eyes, and … Read More »

Thank you all for such nice and wonderful comments about my Olive Rose quilt!

I love it, in fact my mom loves it too! Today is her birthday and I managed to surprise her with the quilt. She called me up last night delighted by the package in the mail, it has a new home where it will be treasured. That makes me smile, knowing that it will be loved! Also my mom has continued to have good news about the possible breast cancer. She had a lump, near the surface, removed last week, and the pathology came back cancer free! She will continue to be monitored closely in the coming months but thankfully she is able to celebrate her birthday without the threat hanging over her head. Happy Birthday Mom!

One Day at a Time

Posted on October 22nd, by Amy in Me, My kids. 14 comments

A neighbor (without kids) said to me in the middle of the grocery store with my kids – “I don’t know how you do it.” She had a smile, but I could see that she was concerned/amazed. Whenever we are together in public, my kids do alright, this day they were two in the cart and two out, and I was fielding three questions at once, as usual. They know that they are to sit, when in the cart, and hold on to the side when walking. We’ve been very consistent so that they know that it doesn’t change. After answering the questions and setting Owen down again (he’s still learning) I looked at her and said “One day at a time.”

It really is that simple for me, I will say that not every … Read More »

Bloggy Goodness!

A quick post to share my recent win!

A big thanks to Amanda Jean for sharing some of her beautiful stash :) I received a sweet little box of fabric goodies today. While putting Owen down for a nap, my girls found them on the table and were ooohing, and aaaahing over each one. They are fabric groupies too!Ella made this painting at school today! I think it is so beautiful – I want to find a frame for it.

She’s very proud of her work, the sky is the limit for her. I’m very proud too :)

Cookie Monster . . .

Posted on October 1st, by Amy in My kids. 6 comments

More like Cheez-it Monster! Owen loves these crackers and found a way to help himself. I walked into the kitchen (after leaving for 2 minutes) and laughed, then ran for the camera :)

He’s trying to clean up his mess – isn’t that sweet!? Many times I feel that our home is quite small, but I am thankful to always have an eye or ear on what may be happening with the little ones.

This week has been a rollercoaster! I will have to tell you more on that later.

I managed to lose 2 lbs. in the midst of a busy week! Hooray :) Since my little incident last week, I have been able to slowly get moving again – I had 2 bruised knees and one shoulder . . . this week it’s just been my one knee with itchy scabs. I’m not showing pictures ’cause it’s not pretty! However, I would like to share a picture of my kids! They are the inspiration for most everything I do – whether it is laundry, cleaning up, or quilting, they give me a boost to keep going – mostly because they NEVER stop! And I love them so much :)More later!Amy

A Thank You & Big – Little Project

Posted on September 22nd, by Amy in My kids, Thankful, work in progress. 7 comments

Good Monday Morning! It is so stormy here thundering rain, and lots of it :) It is a nice change of pace really. And I managed to get quite a bit done this morning, which is odd, usually I slow down when it is gray outside. . .

My Thank You is to Melissa and Jaimie. A few weeks ago, I casually asked if anyone had hand-me-downs that they would part with for Owen. I am happy to say that I have been blessed with a great supply of super cute clothes for my little man :) These piles represent about a third of what I received from these beautiful ladies, the rest are waiting for Owen’s legs to get a bit longer :) Thank you both! I am so thankful for and … Read More »

Free Real Estate and a Winner!

Ella pulled another tooth yesterday! Look at that toothy grin and all that open space :)I thought that this part of parenting would gross me out – but I don’t have to do a thing! Ella had gotten herself a piece of gum, and felt a root snap – next thing I knew it was out :) She’s getting so big! That makes 3 out, and 1 wiggler still in her mouth.

But I know you really want to know if you won!
