Real Moments & News

Hi friends! Since wrapping up Blogger’s Quilt Festival, I’ve been sewing non-stop. I have a book due in January, and with the holidays nearly here, I’m rushing to finish as much as I can now! Like, all of the piecing.

The way I tend to work, takes over the kitchen table, and I would love to be done setting up and putting away (daily) for a month, while I quilt everything downstairs.

It’s a lot of work, but I always enjoy the bits of frantic energy!

Even if I do question my decision when it’s time to trim things up. It’s not always perfect but it is getting done!

Next June I will be teaching at the Small Town Quilt Show, right here in my little valley! High Valley … Read More »

Alpine Quilt Classes

Posted on January 11th, by Amy in Quilt Retreat. 6 comments

Remember the teaching opportunity I mentioned way back here?  A few of the logistics have changed, however if you would like to sew with me there is a fun opportunity later this month!  Alpine Quilt Retreat and classes is located in a beautiful home in Utah, and I’m looking forward to quilting with you!

We will be sewing with solids!  I have my personal collection of solids to show you the differences between manufacturers and weave of some of the fabrics.  The quilt pattern being used is even on sale right now!  You can view the schedule of all the teachers – here.  And  all the details needed to register are here.  Let me know if you plan to be there!

Hi friends!  This place has been a flurry of activity with the Blog Hop going on!  I hope all of your really do try the Alfredo recipe – my family loves it!

I had the opportunity to meet some fellow bloggers this week, we were invited to a luncheon for a new Quilt Retreat starting here in Utah!  We were blessed with a fantastic lunch and great company.

Amanda, Me, Jill, & Amber

After lunch, Sydney gave us a tour of the quilt retreat spaces.  This was my favorite bedroom, each bed has a quilt and duvet, with lots of pillows and adorable sheet combinations.  I spaced my camera…so this was the one decent pic I got from my phone.  The workroom  is great too, with individual tables covered in fabric, and shared ironing boards/cutting tables.  Sydney has thought … Read More »

Quilt Retreat Anyone?

Posted on August 12th, by Amy in 52 weeks, Quilt Retreat. 14 comments

Hi friends!  I was excited to get an invitation in my email a couple weeks ago to teach at a new Quilt Retreat here in Utah!  Who me!?

Well, I do love quilty friends, and encouraging the love of quilting, so, YES me!  After a chat with Syndey on the phone,  and a slew of emails I have dates for next year.  Early enough that you can even put it on your Christmas list – I see your wheels turning…We will be working on my Balanced Connections Quilt for the weekend, and opening your horizons to the beautiful possibilities of solid fabrics.  I’m so excited about some hands on experience with teaching and hopefully meeting some of you!

What do you think?  Is there a quilt retreat in your future?

The dates are January 27-29 and March 10-12, 2011.
