I’m so glad that so many of you love being moms too! I am so blessed to have my little ones in my life – and to be home with them. I do know that there’s times when I would love to escape to a deserted island! Just every once in a while :)
It seems that I’m off the hook for the “smee-shirt” Ella informed me the same day I had planned to go shopping for supplies that it was taken care of! All that scrounging for ideas with no need – it will come in handy in the future I’m sure. She’s my first in school :)
Ella is super excited about the program coming up – NEXT WEEK – it seems she’s been talking about it all year and now it’s finally here! … Read More »
Not me – thank goodness! The skies. Even though we have a serious winter here – it is mostly sunny, not too much of these overcast days. A good trade off in my opinion :)
Time to get my bloggy butt in gear – I can’t believe I haven’t posted in a week!
Most of the costumes for Ella’s production at school should have been dropped off at school this morning. Speaking with the other mom’s about them has been fun, and challenging – it’s rarely quiet around here :)
The one giving me trouble is a red/white stripe tee for “Smee” – of course I thought this would be the simplest! ugh. Short of paying $21 on Amazon I haven’t found a good cheap shirt that will do – so I’m thinking I … Read More »
I have never made a log cabin block. Never – of any sort! This is one of the most basic quilting blocks I have yet to make. I browsed through flickr and found a few extraordinary examples of how amazing these blocks can be. 1. I found a quilt top today!, 2. my new log cabin, 3. Crazy Log Cabin quilt… HPIM0342, 4. log cabin
Have you made a log cabin quilt? I would love to hear your experiences, tips and tricks! I received in the mail last week a collection of vintage sheets for A Notion or Two swap for Amy. And she wants wonky log cabin blocks! I’m pretty sure I can figure this out – but having help is so much fun!
Hope your having a great day!Blessing ~ … Read More »
It’s on my calendar for tomorrow! I googled it to see if I could find an explanation. Nothing. Then I looked to see the artist name again – just in case. . . Susan Branch. Looks like she’s a quilter too! She even has some free patterns on her site. So if you happen to need a reason to go fabric shopping – my calendar says to go visit!
Blessings to you ~ Amy
There’s been a couple of items that I have intended to post about – and have forgotten or run out of time. . . so here’s a few quick takes to keep us current :) And a few links too!
~ A week or so ago Jacquie introduced a new project – Project Improv. I jumped on board a bit hesitantly, as I do like to draft blocks and have a plan for my quilts. But I am excited to step out of my comfort zone! I have a aqua/red block to make and get to Jacquie soon.
~ A Notion or Two – Dana invited me to join her bee before Christmas. . . I couldn’t resist! Doing block and mini swaps has been a great way to try something new. I have received … Read More »
In a nutshell . . .
~Dinner at friends’ house, playing games, and letting our kids run a little wild.
~ Sewing with scraps~ Owen figured out how to put olives on his fingers – all by himself, and it was his first time eating them.
~ Cleaning/picking up the house. Multiple loads of laundry and dishes in the dishwasher.
~ A mini quilt for a swap. I’m dying to show you the whole thing! I’ve had so much fun working on it :) I joined this group a few months back when it was started up – and haven’t had the chance (or I’ve been too intimidated) to participate. The challenge was two-color, and these are the two colors I decided to work with.~ A 500 piece jigsaw puzzle with my girlies. Within minutes Emmalie and … Read More »
Thank you all for such nice and wonderful comments about my Olive Rose quilt!
I love it, in fact my mom loves it too! Today is her birthday and I managed to surprise her with the quilt. She called me up last night delighted by the package in the mail, it has a new home where it will be treasured. That makes me smile, knowing that it will be loved! Also my mom has continued to have good news about the possible breast cancer. She had a lump, near the surface, removed last week, and the pathology came back cancer free! She will continue to be monitored closely in the coming months but thankfully she is able to celebrate her birthday without the threat hanging over her head. Happy Birthday Mom!

I’ve told you that I read lots of blogs – right!? I love to visit the bloggers that visit here especially :) it’s so fun to have a social life like this! Otherwise I would be really, really isolated. I always comment, especially when I see a giveaway and . . .
I won Kristina’s giveaway and got this: in the mail today! It’s her recent collection of scraps, but there a few fat quarters in there too, maybe even a 1/2 yd cut or two. I know, I’ve been SOOO lucky lately! Everyday I check the mail with much anticipation :) There’s so many different, beautiful fabrics in the mix, that I have yet to purchase. Garden party, Pop Garden, Charisma and so many more.

I hope that you had a great weekend! We were forced to slow down a bit with frigid temperatures and a couple of stuffy noses, bit I like that pace. I finished up my custom bracelet order (I will ask Mendy, if I can show pictures), and almost completed the roman shade for my friend.
~ I have a new plan for my SewConnected block – soon I have do it!

I was tagged last week by Summer, and have been a bit remiss in posting – oops! I always love reading the random meme’s about others so figured I better play along.
Oh, and it started snowing about an hour ago! It won’t stay, but it is still crazy to see snow on the trees with leaves :)1 ~ I greatly dislike feet. Especially bare feet touching my bare feet.
2 ~ I’ve been feeling extra domestic lately. Planning menu’s and whatnot – it seems that fall is here!
3 ~ I really need to recover my ironing board.
4 ~ I enjoy flavored creamers in my coffee – usually fat free.
5 ~ TV I like : Project Runway, Top Design, 30 Rock, The Office, The Amazing Race, The Locator, What Not To Wear, ‘Til Death.

Our local grocery takes ripe/bruised bananas and marks them way down. All 4 of my kids love bananas, so getting home with a bunch of bananas can be challenging, many times I’m left with 1, especially when we are walking. And so I have a hard time passing these up!I usually feed them a few and then make banana bread with the rest. I stocked up big time :) I’ve been a little unhappy with one recipe and decided to try the stand-by that I grew up with – it was better than I remembered. The crust is just the right golden color, and crunchy, while the inside is moist and delish.I thought I would share the recipe – I love how simple it is, and on the low-fat side :)

It has been so beautiful here! I had to share pictures of the changing leaves – here’s a big dose of fall for those of you living without “seasons” :) This is by far my favorite time of the year, when I can hear the leaves crushing under my feet. I will go out of my way to crunch a few more! What is your favorite fall activity?
Our weekend was very, very wet. But I love the aftermath! Beautiful snow capped mountains. The valley we live in is surrounded by amazing peaks, this is the most photographed for it’s jagged edges. The best part is – I can see it from my kitchen! All winter long I watch the storms come in and out of the valley based on these mountains. … Read More »
