Blogger’s Quilt Festival :: News & Catching Up!

Hi friends! I love seeing all the quilts you have entered in the Festival! If you haven’t entered yet, there’s still time!  Visit this post and select a category your quilt falls into, and link up.  Also, there have been lots of nominations, but there’s always room for more – select a favorite from all the categories to nominate for Viewer’s Choice.  I will sort through all the nominations over the weekend, and then we vote for our top three favorites!

I had a great Market experience with a full schoolhouse, and four signings giving me a chance to chat with a number of shop owners and fans.  I’m still in recovery and catch up mode around the house, but today I’m planning to ignore the laundry and enjoy my birthday! I think I will pull out my Dancing Stars blocks … Read More »

Little Things

Posted on August 27th, by Amy in My kids, sewing, Thankful. 10 comments

Going back to school last week reminds me to slow down, and be thankful for the little things.

Little things, like happy, healthy kids.

Family and (furry) friends.

Kids that like to learn and go to school.

And the one left behind this week, happy to have extra hugs, while mom makes the adjustment too.

I’m always thankful for a simple project to tackle while relaxing with all of them too!

What are you thankful for?

Gone Camping!

Posted on August 29th, by Amy in My kids, Thankful. 8 comments

Over the weekend we finally squeezed in a camping trip!  After school on Friday, we packed up and drove an hour away to find a camp site in the Uintah Mountains.  It’s amazing the beauty that is so close!  Everyone enjoyed sleeping in the tent, fishing, hiking and smores! I am so thankful to have had a great weekend with the family.  To see full size images visit my set on flickr.

Since returning home I’ve been working on finishing up a commissioned quilt for a new baby!  I’ll share the finished project, once it’s complete and shipped off tomorrow.

I hope your week is off to a great start~

Update & Thanks!

Posted on May 26th, by Amy in Bloggers Quilt Festival, Thankful. 22 comments

As of this morning there are 572 quilts entered in our Festival!  Amazing!  There’s still time if you have been working on a finish, or working up the nerve to participate.  Everyone is welcome, no matter your style or skill level.  We would love to see your quilt – please go write a post and link up!  The linky closes Friday, midnight, then will be permanent links on my post.

A very sweet blog friend sent me this gorgeous fabric care package –

Thank you Terri, your gift made my day!

I’m slowly working through the links – we’ve had a nasty spring cold in the house.  I keep thinking today I/the kids will feel better, but it’s not happening…yet!  Time to sanitize the house again.  I checked with the pediatrician’s office earlier, we just need to wait it out at the moment. … Read More »

Houses in Frolic!

Posted on April 26th, by Amy in finished project, Thankful. 23 comments

I’m so glad to have you help me celebrate 500 posts!   It wouldn’t be possible with out all of you  :)

I took a little time on Saturday to make some house blocks for V.  Pulled out a little extra yardage, from a different project, cut, and whaalaa -

Houses in Frolic

What do you think?  I love them – yes, there’s five total!  I work in production mode best, and it’s for a great cause!  :)  These will be in the mail early this week to meet the April 31 deadline.

While working my blocks, I was able to put a couple new tools to work!  I told you about Kelly’s month of giveaways, and went and entered myself in a bunch of them too.  Lucky me – I won a set of tools.  Yay me!

Super sharp little scissors and … Read More »

I received a fantastic surprise in the mail yesterday!

Jackie  sent two sets of her favorite pins and  “That Purple Thang” claiming it is her extra hand in the sewing room.

I’m excited to put them all to good use!  Thank you so much Jackie!

Two Years . . .

Posted on March 16th, by Amy in random, Thankful. 65 comments

Today, is my two year blogiversary!  I am amazed at how time keeps on ticking by, and I’m so thankful for the community online.  I’m constantly inspired and pushed to be more creative, and encouraged in the adventure of motherhood – I LOVE it!

Looking back at the last year, I’m overwhelmed –

Last year about this time, I was mulling over a big idea, and figured out how to pull the Blogger’s Quilt Festival together.  I love that we can all get together in one place and celebrate our love of creating!

Little did you know, I was also putting the final touches on a book proposal.  Which I never would have considered for myself – but God put the desire on my heart and I believed in myself enough to pitch the idea and sign the contract!  It still seems a … Read More »

New Notions!

Posted on January 4th, by Amy in Thankful. 19 comments

Thank you all for your kind words of congratulations!  I’m so very happy to be busy quilting for my book – but it is hard to not share my work here.  My family is not as excited about my quilts as all of you usually are :)

Look what came to my mailbox over the weekend!

My mom reads my blog, and saw my letter to Santa last month.  She took it upon herself to fulfill my most practical wishes!

These little thread clippers are so sharp and perfect for clipping the millions of threads hanging on my projects.  I do try to clip as I go but there are times . . . you know!  I just have to be careful not to hurt myself with them!  If you been with me for a while you know I’m a bit of … Read More »
