So somehow I managed to sit on the goodie bag from Beki for the last two weeks – hmpf! Here’s the goods she sent -
Her Short and Sassy Pleated Handbag, can be found in Beki’s etsy shop if you happen to have a hankering for a cute new bag! I’m trying to decide which fabric to make mine from – I’ll fill you in as I make my mind up :)
Yesterday I had a great crafty day! I quilted the tree skirt. I designed/made two new bookmarks. I got to 75% finished on my scrap quilt. And cut binding for the skirt. I just need to get back to the machine and the tree skirt should be complete tomorrow. We’ll see!
I have plans to make orange chicken for dinner – yummy! … Read More »
In a nutshell . . .
~Dinner at friends’ house, playing games, and letting our kids run a little wild.
~ Sewing with scraps~ Owen figured out how to put olives on his fingers – all by himself, and it was his first time eating them.
~ Cleaning/picking up the house. Multiple loads of laundry and dishes in the dishwasher.
~ A mini quilt for a swap. I’m dying to show you the whole thing! I’ve had so much fun working on it :) I joined this group a few months back when it was started up – and haven’t had the chance (or I’ve been too intimidated) to participate. The challenge was two-color, and these are the two colors I decided to work with.~ A 500 piece jigsaw puzzle with my girlies. Within minutes Emmalie and … Read More »
I just finished up cutting all my strips this morning. I probably could have finished yesterday, but I took a little slice off my index finger . . . that slowed me down – a lot! Watch those fingers people! I just got caught up I guess, thinking I had it all together and wham, ouch. Thankfully I didn’t get any blood on the fabulous fabrics :)
I counted them – 263 pieces. I know, your thinking – it’s a scrap quilt – just sew it! I’m a planner – I can’t help it :) It should be a queen size by the time I finish – that’s exciting, especially as it is all scraps!
Bookmarks: The four that I made two weeks ago, have all sold! Thanks for your encouragement to put … Read More »
I’m cutting!I know that I mentioned a coin quilt . . . but a block I drafted a while back really needs to be created. I will share more later :)Amy
Not the blog! Owen :)We have been going back and forth about how to cut his hair for a month or so. . . I finally just grabbed my scissors and went for it! Our girls were bald until they were 2, and never a haircut before 3, and our boy has a full head of hair! This is a pic of Owen in all his messy glory – he loves to rearrange, anything and everything. I am working on the book shelf with him – it’s too much to have it unloaded 2-3 times a day. Mostly board books they can’t really be hurt, but I don’t have enough floor space to ignore the pile. You can see how long his hair was in this picture too – in his eyes, and … Read More »
Thank you all for such nice and wonderful comments about my Olive Rose quilt!
I love it, in fact my mom loves it too! Today is her birthday and I managed to surprise her with the quilt. She called me up last night delighted by the package in the mail, it has a new home where it will be treasured. That makes me smile, knowing that it will be loved! Also my mom has continued to have good news about the possible breast cancer. She had a lump, near the surface, removed last week, and the pathology came back cancer free! She will continue to be monitored closely in the coming months but thankfully she is able to celebrate her birthday without the threat hanging over her head. Happy Birthday Mom!

As usual I had drawn up my own plans for a tree skirt. Then I had to sit down and figure out how make it! Realizing how rusty my geometry skills are, I turned to google (love google!). If I’m working on something small, trial and error works. But this time, I didn’t have enough time or fabric for trial and error :) After a few minutes of searching I found this really cool tool! You can move it around to help figure out the size of square to cut, or what the diagonal of a square will be. I already emailed the author to see if he would consider adding the usual inch increments not used so far. This is the center of my tree skirt, it measures about 23″ square … Read More »
Well just a little :) Fat Quarter Shop has Christmas fabrics on sale, and I have been wanting to make a new tree skirt for a couple of years. So I just did it! :) I drafted it out already, I just need to get a few other projects off my list before I start. I also bought a panel to make a table runner, such a fun and quick project, but I’m going to cheat! I’m being realistic – the weeks keep flying by around here. In other news: I spent an hour or so, ripping out the quilting I had done on my corduroy project. I wasn’t happy with the quality of quilting my machine was producing. :( After having my thoughts confirmed by Amanda Jean, I’ve … Read More »
Quilting on corduroy has been fun! Really, I’m just getting started, but it feels nice :)
What are you up to?
Happy October! It is feeling more and more fallish around here :) Usually by the end of the month we have had at least one decent snow storm – not sure we are ready for it, but winter will be here before fall is officially over!
I have been a bit cryptic the last week (maybe you didn’t notice?). The reason being : my mom had a serious breast cancer scare. Thankfully her biopsy results came back yesterday without cancer! Prior to the biopsy her Dr was 99.9% sure it was a rare and aggressive form of cancer, needless to say, this has been a huge concern for our family. She has had very good care, and will continue to be watched closely for the next few months, as this cancer is easily … Read More »
Good Monday Morning! It is so stormy here thundering rain, and lots of it :) It is a nice change of pace really. And I managed to get quite a bit done this morning, which is odd, usually I slow down when it is gray outside. . .
My Thank You is to Melissa and Jaimie. A few weeks ago, I casually asked if anyone had hand-me-downs that they would part with for Owen. I am happy to say that I have been blessed with a great supply of super cute clothes for my little man :) These piles represent about a third of what I received from these beautiful ladies, the rest are waiting for Owen’s legs to get a bit longer :) Thank you both! I am so thankful for and … Read More »

The other thing that I really like is having my email address in my profile! A few months ago I was emailing other bloggers trying to figure out how they got their email to come with the comments they left. I was a little crazed trying to figure it out, until I realized I already did! I set up a separate gmail account just for blogging, and added another account in my … Read More »
