work in progress
Quilting on corduroy has been fun! Really, I’m just getting started, but it feels nice :)
What are you up to?
Happy October! It is feeling more and more fallish around here :) Usually by the end of the month we have had at least one decent snow storm – not sure we are ready for it, but winter will be here before fall is officially over!
I have been a bit cryptic the last week (maybe you didn’t notice?). The reason being : my mom had a serious breast cancer scare. Thankfully her biopsy results came back yesterday without cancer! Prior to the biopsy her Dr was 99.9% sure it was a rare and aggressive form of cancer, needless to say, this has been a huge concern for our family. She has had very good care, and will continue to be watched closely for the next few months, as this cancer is easily … Read More »
Good Monday Morning! It is so stormy here thundering rain, and lots of it :) It is a nice change of pace really. And I managed to get quite a bit done this morning, which is odd, usually I slow down when it is gray outside. . .
My Thank You is to Melissa and Jaimie. A few weeks ago, I casually asked if anyone had hand-me-downs that they would part with for Owen. I am happy to say that I have been blessed with a great supply of super cute clothes for my little man :) These piles represent about a third of what I received from these beautiful ladies, the rest are waiting for Owen’s legs to get a bit longer :) Thank you both! I am so thankful for and … Read More »
I know that not everyone uses blogger, but for those of you who do – Have you seen the new following feature? I’m going to try it out for a while and see. If you have all your subscriptions in google reader you can just add them easily on your dashboard. Or you can click over there —-> Follow me – k?
The other thing that I really like is having my email address in my profile! A few months ago I was emailing other bloggers trying to figure out how they got their email to come with the comments they left. I was a little crazed trying to figure it out, until I realized I already did! I set up a separate gmail account just for blogging, and added another account in my … Read More »
I ironed and trimmed up my blocks yesterday and when I had a few moments ALONE this afternoon I laid it out! I should have a chance to get it put together soon :) We do have a special visitor coming this week, but I don’t foresee my machine being put away this time!My girls collected a few leaves that blew off the trees. Can you believe that the colors are starting to change? Well, maybe not where you are – but we’ve had enough cold nights to cause the start. (This picture is for you, Miss Amy) It’s been stormy today, nothing like Gustav, but plenty to free a few leaves. I even saw a fresh dusting of snow on a couple of mountain peaks this morning! I will try to take … Read More »
I have a finish at last! I’ve been calling this my “Nod to Random” – what do you think?I’m really looking forward to working on the cancer quilt – it will be a simple and hopefully quick finish :) Did I tell you that they were giving those kits away for people to just bring back? It’s a great way to get people involved!
Jenna’s working on her binding, with less than a week left here, I’m excited for her to see the finished product!
The last couple of days have started to feel like fall!
I’m not ready.
I’ve woken up yesterday and today huddled under our down comforter (no quilt there, yet) with that cool crisp air that reminds me that it will be cold before I know it. I was just telling you how hot it was here, and now all the sudden I have to rummage through the closets looking for pants that fit all the kiddos. My girls are probably fine, but Owen doesn’t have the same hand-me-down ability as they do :)
Oh well! It will most likely be hot again next week, but the nights will continue to be cold. So I need to begin to prepare myself now. This is my favorite picture of all 4 kids outside last winter. They were sitting … Read More »
Here’s the mess that I have created for myself! Tons of tiny hourglass blocks :) I really have had fun working with them, there’s just lots to work with. And here’s the layout:I had considered making it random, but with only 4 different blocks, it wouldn’t end up very random. And I am a concrete sequential and random is hard for me! I believe I have enough to make a baby quilt 36″ square. And then I can send it off to a friend with a new baby :)
Happy Tuesday -Amy
I have spent a good chunk of time yesterday and today pinning. Pinning while watching the Olympics! Good clean fun – now I just need to peel myself away from the tube and get to the sewing machine. There’s about 150 sets awaiting sewing – I like to keep everything at the same stage of “production.” I guess it brings a bit of continuity to a project for me :)
Have a good evening and thanks for your encouragement yesterday!Amy
First off – Hello to all of you who have visited via Quilting Bloggers! I will have to go check out more of your blogs :)
I kept two baggies full of tiny triangles from when Jenna was cutting the corners off of her snowballs. I just couldn’t watch all those beautiful scraps go to waste! So now I have put together a couple of blocks so I can hopefully decide where to go next with them.
Did I mention how tiny they are? These completed blocks are 3″ and 2 1/2″ – almost square! Right now I am leaning toward the hourglass. For a couple of reasons, less room for trouble, and I really like the pattern they create when put together. I’ve been wanting to do an hourglass anyway but I really wanted … Read More »
I cut out the same night I posted my first star block these three. I have been working on them as able since and I’m excited to show you :) I’ve been using little scraps from my bin so they are all different and fun. My girls have been asking for place mats so I may just add more to the sides and then quilt them for the girlies. . . have to wait and see!I found this pin cushion via another blogger – Darlene at Quilting Daze, recently asked for help making one and I decided I needed one too! Here’s the tutorial we used – sweet and simple – my favorite quick project. Thanks for stopping by!Amy
I just finished my first block from AmandaJean’s star quilt-a-long. So fun! Honestly, I’m sorta glad I only started now – I don’t have to wait for next week to start the next! It may seem like I’ve done nothing more than blog and quilt today but I assure you my family is not malnourished nor is the house in complete disarray. But I must be going – dinner must be made :)
