Quiltcast #19

Today we are talking about our fabric scraps, sorting, storing, and using our scraps. Join April and I as we try to make sense of our scrap stashes!

Shout Color Catcher are a great save for washing quilts with lots of color, or less quality dyes.

Plastic storage boxes might be a good option for me to get started sorting my scraps.

Scrap Swaps take a little time to coordinate, but given a theme could be a great way to acquire more variety in your scraps.

There’s lots more great info in the podcast – I hope you will listen and find the gems, like this one :

Quiltcast #14

Finding balance is always a challenge – hear our thoughts and ideas for keeping family life and quilting in balance.

Knowing when to stop, and let go of the self-imposed deadlines, and say no, so I can relax and enjoy.

Step back, start over or make a list, and prioritize everything.

Chore time with my kids – daily – making routines for the family.

Be realistic with goals and plans for each and every day.

Saying yes, to family and choosing to be happy with my choices.

April and I talk about where to begin when learning to quilt, or teaching a friend to quilt! Lots of helpful tips and information for the beginner, or beginning to teach, and some of our personal strategies for success!  Success is a new quilting addict – of course!

Tutorials by Amy and April.

1, 2, 3 Quilt by Ellen Luckett Baker is a great book for beginner, or any quilter looking for fun projects! Organized by shape, with a variety of projects for each shape, there’s a number of fun projects to inspire even the novice. I especially like her Lopsided Squares Quilt, Stacked Table Runner, and Hexie the Turtle – the Clamshell Pillow Sham looks like a fun challenge too!
